I was hoping this would be a cinema release especially as I don't have the Disney channel. More a Stones fan musically but I have grown to appreciate the Beatles and enjoy their later music which this mostly features.

Here's the thing, I love the director and knock about with countless musicians (unfortunately) and I don't think I know a single person who likes the Beatles.

Not a patch on the Hollies or the Fortunes.

Re: The beatles . Get back The Documentary
The beatles hold a fond place in many peoples hearts as , discovering the beatles is normally your journey into listening to and appreciating music ..

The red and the blue album will be passed down to 14 year olds for years to come ....

Sgt peppers and revolver are amazing albums its just tht they have been part of the furniture for so long , they kinda get taken for granted a bit ...

but yeah i prefer the stones and kinks also lol

Some of that footage is incredibly good quality. Thought it must have been a drama at first.

Re: The beatles . Get back The Documentary
For whatever reasons, the Beatles, along with Pirate Radio, formed a massive part of the background tapestry against which I grew up, so, like them or not, they are important to my past - and, I suspect the past of many.

We could wander off on this thread and debate why they had a greater impact than The Stones, The Who or The Kinks, but the fact is that they did.

In my opinion, their early stuff was right for the time in which it was produces, as was the evolution of their sound and output, which coincided with a large chunk of my formative years; their sound changed (with the times) far more than did that of their contemporaries who stayed closer to their "roots". Whether that was "right" or not does not really come into it - it was an artistic decision made by each artist as they felt fit.

Having been so warmly embraced by the establishment by proxy through the BBC for their 1962 - 1965 output, I think Sgt. Peppers onwards left the pre-Radio 1 BBC with quite a moral dilemma.

Re: The beatles . Get back The Documentary
im pretty sure the vast majority of any successful band either British of American in the last fifty years would say the Beatles are a massive inspiration

Boy band to Rock band. And pulling it off with ease. Like them or not. They are part of the English tapestry. Like our sense of humour. A cup of tea. And shit weather.

My mum took my two older brothers, who were 9 and 10, to see them at Wembley and describes it as the most frightening thing she ever did.

She spent the entire concert protecting them from being crushed.

Look forward to watching this, the trailer actually looks pretty good.

Always brings back memorys of my very early years in the early to mid 70,s and being at my grandparents house, the radio was always on and whatever station always banging out the Beatles songs.
